Don’t Rain on My Parade

Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli sing “Don’t Rain on My Parade”. I didn’t know this was a thing! Liza and Judy singing one of Barbra Streisand’s signature songs! I can di

Happy Birthday Bette Davis!
(April 5, 1908 – October 6, 1989)

The gentlemen looked me over across the great desk and through the upraised soles of their shoes. Our dialogue was a revelation.
“Now about your name.”
“What about my name?”
“No glamour. Bette Davis. Ugh!”
“It is spelled with en e — instead of a y. That’s unusual!”
“Doesn’t have appeal, Picture names have to excite the public — intrige ‘em. Bette Davis! It’s a great name for a secretary.”
So we were back to that, were we?
“And what,” I asked, having no intention of changing mine ever, “would you consider a name full of excitement and intrigue?”
“We’ve given a lot of thought to it and we’ve come up with the perfect name for you. It’s a natural. Bettina Dawes.”
”Bettina Dawes! I refuse to be called ‘Between the Drawers’ all my life!” They did laugh and skip any more discussions about changing my name.
